Case Study One
Mr X, a 40 -year-old married father of two
The problem
Mr X contacted treatment-now.com concerned about his wife’s drinking and drug using. Her behaviour and using was affecting the couple’s relationship and the well being of their children. He was struggling at work and had no idea what to do next.
It was at this point that Social Services and the Authorities were becoming involved in relation to the care of the children as his wife’s behaviour was becoming more erratic. His wife had sought treatment previously with an NHS provider with little success.
Mr X at this point contacted treatment-now.com.
How treatment-now.com helped
His wife was assessed in person by one of our experienced alcohol and drug counsellors and a series of individual and family therapy sessions was recommended and Mrs X and the family were referred to an experienced counsellor. Both Mr and Mrs X and their children attended a number of planned therapy sessions.
During this time it was identified by the therapist that residential treatment would be the most appropriate course of action. treatment-now.com were again contacted as the care managers and following a review of the therapists case history and treatment-now.com’s own assessments an appropriate residential treatment centre was identified. A referral was made, travel arranged, childcare arrangements confirmed and support for Mr X agreed and Mrs X was admitted to commence her treatment.
This case is ongoing and treatment-now.com are still overseeing and managing both Mrs X in her treatment and the family in supportive therapy.
What was the treatment and support cost
The cost to the family was no more than the cost of the individual treatment and support elements.
The outcome
Mr X was able to rely on the support and care management provided by treatment-now.com during this extremely difficult time enabling him to concentrate on supporting his wife and children and maintaining his job. By engaging with treatment-now.com and the support we offered, Social Services were assured that the children were in no danger and they remained in the family home with Mr X while his wife was being treated.
Mr X to date is still working full time, supporting his children and his wife while she undergoes treatment. He is assured of treatment-now.com’s full support and ongoing care and has had no need to worry about future treatment and support needs as all of this is taken care of by us.
We are currently reviewing Mrs X’s progress and together with Mr X are looking into aftercare and ongoing family support to follow up the successful residential treatment Mrs X is currently undergoing.

Case Study Two
Mrs Y, a widow in her early 60’s concerned about her own drinking.
The Problem
Mrs Y had been widowed several years ago and was currently living in her own home with her grown up son and daughter. Her behaviour, for many years, had been causing enormous relationship problems in the family. She resorted to alcohol for a variety of reasons and invariably she drank to excess to “cope”. She was struggling with unresolved grief around the death of her husband and regret and guilt over many issues in her life and relationships. Her drinking was getting out of hand and her family were struggling to maintain stable conditions at home.
How treatment- now.com helped
Mrs Y first contacted us early one Sunday morning desperate to do something about her drinking. She was briefly assessed by the on-duty care Manager and it was agreed that a further conversation would need to be arranged in order to involve Mrs Y’s daughter. A further assessment was booked and in the meantime information about the range of treatment options available was posted out to Mrs Y.
Following the second assessment a residential treatment provider overseas was identified as the most appropriate option for Mrs Y. An admiission date was then agreed and travel arrangements started. treatment-now.com booked flight tickets and arranged for a Care Manager to pick Mrs Y up from home and escort her to the airport. The treatment centre overseas agreed to meet Mrs Y at the airport the other end and drive her to the centre The whole thing was arranged within two days of Mrs Y’s first call and once she had sorted out a few personal issues at home she was comfortably settled in to treatment within a week. Mrs Y was initially nervous about committing to the 12 week programme provided by the centre so we negotiated a 4 week initial stay in order to settle her in.
What was the cost
Mrs Y paid the published private rate for treatment in the treatment centre overseas. She was able to pay in monthly installments and did not have to commit to the whole 12 weeks up front due to the relationship treatment-now.com have developed with our providers. Her flight tickets were purchased through the treatment centre and as Mrs Y eventually completed the whole 12 week programme her return flight to the UK was provided free of charge. The transfers to and from airports were provided within the cost of treatment so no extras wer incurred. The Care Management provided for Mrs Y by treatment-now.com has not cost her anything.
The Outcome
Mrs Y successfully completed 12 weeks at the treatment centre. Her Care Manager flew to the treatment centre to be there and support her at her “graduation” ceremony as her family were unable to attend. Her family were, however, able to maintain contact through treatment-now.com and visits during the 12 weeks she was there. She has now returned home and her aftercare package has been agreed and is ongoing. She is under the care of our own Medical Director and is slowly coming to terms with a clean and sober head. She is touch with her Care Manager on a weekly basis and is going back to the treatment centre for a weekend before christmas to support her ongoing recovery.
Mrs Y commented to her Care Manager recently: “You are my guardian angel”
