Some examples of questions you may be asked.
Here are some examples of the type of questions that may be asked in a telephone assessment. Where we refer to drug this could equally refer to alcohol:
• Do you have difficulty in refusing a drug when it is offered to you?
• Have you ever used more drugs than you planned?
• Have you ever tried to stop or reduce your drug use and found that you have not been able to?
• Do you worry that you will not function as well with out drugs?
• Do you use larger quantities of drugs to get the same high that you previously experienced?
• Do you need to be on a ‘drug high’ to have a good time?
• Do you tend to continue using drugs until your supplies are gone even if you planned to save some for the morning?
• Have you ever been on a binge lasting more than 24 hours?
• Do you ever feel guilty about your drug use?
• Have others ever expressed concern about your drug use?
• Do you crave drugs when exposed to people places and objects that you associate with use?
• Do you use drugs alone?
• Do you use more drugs than you can afford?
• Has anyone ever commented that that your behaviour or personality has changed?
• Do you ever lie to yourself or other’s or make excuses about your drug use?
• Are drugs having a negative affect on your mental state?
• Do you conceal the extent of your drug use from friends and family?
• Are drugs affecting your physical health?
• Is drug use affecting your career?
• Is drug use affecting your sex life?
• Do you play down the severity of your drug habit?
• Are you sometimes preoccupied with thoughts about drugs?
• Do you use drugs at work or during the working day?
• Do you ever experience an overwhelming compulsion to use drugs?
• Do you have an obsession with drugs when you don’t have any?
• Do your ever think that you are being watched or followed or that there is a conspiracy against you?
